Tenku no Rakuen w Achi (gwiazdy)
«Tenku no Rakuen» (Paradise in the Sky) is the brand name for stargazing tours at Fujimidai Highlands (1,400 m) operated by Heavens Sonohara ski resort in Chisato, Achi Village, Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture. In 2006, the area was certified by Japan's Ministry of the Environment as having the «most beautiful starry sky in Japan» (under the National Star-Sky Continuous Observation program). After about a 15-minute gondola ride, visitors reach the summit, where light pollution is eliminated and a 360° panorama of stars surrounds them. Depending on season, 6,000 to 10,000 stars are visible to the naked eye — the Milky Way at new moon, the Summer Triangle, Orion in winter, and the Winter Hexagon. Drawing about 140,000 visitors annually, it leads Japanese astrotourism.
